Tell us your favorite memory with your dad

May 27—Father’s Day is right around the corner and now is the time for reflection.

Dayton.com or the Dayton Daily News want to hear about the best times you had with him, and what you love most about him. Your response could be featured in the Father’s Day tribute that will take place on Sunday, 18th June.

Melissa Fields, of West Carrollton in Ohio, and her father George W. Schram share a common love for food. Schram returned to Ohio in 2020 and she began taking him every week to Taco Tuesday, but quickly became bored of Mexican food.

Fields explained, “I told dad that I wouldn’t be going to Taco Tuesday with him but I would take him somewhere else.” “I wanted to go to some of the restaurants on Dayton Foodies.”

Dayton Foodies Facebook page allows users to review restaurants and request restaurant recommendations. Fields started posting pictures to her page of her adventures, which she labels as “Mr. Grumpy”, “Mr. Complaints” and “Mr. Complaining”.

His favorite restaurants are Bullwinkle’s Top Hat Bistro and Bennett’s Publical Family Sports Bar.

Schram, who is 88 years old, was born in Dayton and served during the Korean War. After the war, Schram worked as an employee at McCall’s for many years until it closed.

Fields told Fields, “I really appreciate his work ethics.” “He could have just been like everyone else. “He could have been like everyone else.”

Schram worked as a printer in Georgia before retiring for more than 30 years. Fields said that he had several favorite eating spots, including small diners serving southern food.

She recalled him visiting her in Georgia. She always remembered going to eat out. She mentioned that he went to a particular restaurant every night.

He loves to eat at restaurants. Fields explained that he was a person who loved to eat out. “Everybody knew who he was, so it was a big change.”

Schram did not always eat with his friends when he was in Georgia. Fields expressed her joy at the opportunity to dine out with Schram and to share their passion for food in Dayton.

Fields said, “He’s always been a foodie.” “He loves food. He loves eating out. “He loves the interaction with workers or other people.”

Dayton.com will be sharing a meal in an upcoming story, prior to Father’s Day.
