HubSpot Pitch Competition at Grit Daily House: Meet the Startups Seeking to Change the World


It is difficult to start a startup. One of the most challenging tasks for founders is finding support and exposure during the initial stages. Startups have limited resources, networks and experience which can make it difficult for them attract investors, customers, mentors, or mentors. There are many opportunities for startups and their teams around the globe to showcase what they can do, including pitch competitions.

This year’s edition of Grit Daily House at SXSW saw 4 entrepreneurs pitch their startups to a panel of judges as part of the “HubSpot Pitch Competition” organized by investor and serial entrepreneur Eric “ERock” Christopher. The panel consisted of Black Women Talk Tech’s Co-Founder Esosa Ighodaro, The Lifestyle Investor’s Founder Justin Donald, HubSpot’s Senior Head of Startup Growth Kelsey Gernert AinaERock, too.

Real Time Network is founded by Tim Flatt. The company launches a new technology called Real-Time Voice Analyzer. It uses voice biomarkers as well as AI to detect respiratory diseases, including COVID-19. The company collaborates with Dr. Rita Singh from MIT, Yale Medical School, and Carnegie Mellon. She has been developing this technology since 2014. The technology has been proven to work in Asia with standard smartphones and is easily accessible in clinics.

Chance Glenn An engineer and professor has created a 3D printing machine that prints electronic devices from capacitive and conductive materials. This technology allows for the creation of devices that can be used immediately after the printing process is complete. The printer will also be affordable at a comparable price to traditional FDM 3d printers. The project has been funded by NASA, private citizens and a successful Kickstarter campaign.

Nate Thomas Shmoody is a startup founded by Nate. It is creating a fun and effective mental health app.  Mike, Nate, and their co-founder became friends over their common desire to make tools that work for them in their mental health improvement journeys available to millions more people. The app uses science-based methods like behavioral activation and gamification in order to help its users form habits that improve their mental well-being over the short and long-term.

Henry Baiz Gane Mobile is the CEO and Founder. This cell phone service offers users free service by using a standard SIM and a proprietary application. Users can earn tokens by interacting with sponsored content, which includes news, ads, educational resources, and more. These tokens can then be used to exchange for services. It also has a wallet that allows users to send and get remittances. This opens up new opportunities for financial inclusion and connects people more easily.
