Arizona judge rules against Kari Lake’s election claims

PHOENIX Ariz. (NBC), Saturday’s ruling against Kari Lake, a republican who sought to overturn Arizona’s 2022 election.

This means Katie Hobbs will become the governor-elect for Arizona. The election won’t need to be rerun.

Peter Thompson, a former Republican governor appointee to the Superior Court, is a judge. Jan Brewer stated that there was no clear and convincing evidence of misconduct in any of Lake’s allegations.

Lake failed to provide any evidence supporting her claims of widespread, intentional misconduct during Election Day. She was being tried at two days.

Printer problems

Lake’s claim that printer problems at Maricopa County voting places were intentional acts that could have changed the race’s outcome was not supported by any evidence, according to Abha Khanna (a Hobbs lawyer). The race was won by just over 17,000 votes.

Lake’s lawyers were focused on problems with some ballot printers in Maricopa County. This county is home to more that 60% of the state’s voters.

The defective printers created ballots that were too small to be read at the polling places by the on-site tabulators. The confusion led to lines that backed up in certain areas.

Officials from the county claim that everyone was allowed to vote. All ballots were counted and any ballots with printer issues were added to the more advanced counters at Headquarters of Elections Department.

The centerpiece of her campaign

Lake was a vocal Republican who supported the election lies of former President Donald Trump.

These core beliefs became the focus of Lake’s campaign.

Lake, unlike most of the other election deniers across the country, has not conceded to losing their races in November.

Instead, she wants the judge to declare her winner or order a revote for Maricopa County.
