32-Year-Old Arrested For Selling Fake Currency In Malad


Mumbai: The Malvani Police said that a 32-year old man was arrested after allegedly trying sell counterfeit currency worth Rs 4,000. Paraphernalia valued at Rs 7 lakh was also seized in his home, which was required to print fake currency. Umesh K. has been named as the accused. The police received a tip on June 22 about a suspicious individual moving near Ganesh Mandir Gate Number 1, Malvani in Malad West.

The police raided the neighborhood and arrested Kumar. Police found eight fake Rs 500 notes when they searched his pockets. Police said that during interrogation he finally admitted to the crime.

During a search of his home, a variety of items were seized, including a printer in colour, two pen drives and four mobiles phones, a blank paper, a laptop and an iPod. He has been charged under section 489B, which deals with the use of genuine currency notes and bank notes.
